Rules and guide

The picture we make can only be as good as the photo you give us.

Every photo is checked before a look is made. It must show one adult, fully clothed. A photo that does not is refused, and nothing is charged.

Pick clothing that is similar to what you are wearing in your photo. The new piece is fitted to your body as the photo shows it, so the closer the two are, the more real the result.

• Loose for loose. If you are wearing something loose, pick a loose piece.
• Tight for tight. If you are wearing something fitted, pick a fitted piece.
• Like for like. A shirt for a shirt, a dress for a dress, a skirt for a skirt, trousers for trousers, shorts for shorts.
• Keep the length and the sleeves close to the original where you can.

Loose clothing hides your shape. Putting a tight piece over it means your shape has to be guessed, and the picture stops looking like you. The same happens the other way round.

We only dress the parts of you that are in the photo. We never add legs, hips or feet that the photo does not show, because the result would no longer be you.

• Some pieces, such as floor-length gowns, need a full-length photo. The piece says so in the Shop.
• The Shop shows which pieces fit your photo. The others say what kind of photo they need.
• If a piece does not fit your photo, the app stops before any credits are spent. Change the photo or pick another piece.
• After you add a photo, the app tells you which type of photo it sees. Correct it if it is wrong.
• A hairstyle can be tried on any photo.

• Pieces in the Shop belong to real fashion designers and brands. Each one shows who made it.
• Shop pictures are for trying on only. You may not download, copy, screenshot for reuse, or repost them.
• Where the designer has given a link, the "Get" button under your look takes you to where the real piece is sold. Modefai does not sell it.
• Each Shop piece adds its own price to a look: dress 2 credits, top 1 credit, skirt 1 credit, trousers 1 credit, shorts 1 credit, footwear 0.5 credits, hairstyle 0.5 credits. The price is shown on every piece.
• You can also use a picture of your own piece, up to 2 of your own images in 24 hours. Shop pieces are not limited. Only use a picture you own or have permission to use.
• Lingerie, underwear, swimwear and other very revealing outfits are not accepted, in the Shop or as your own image. Every clothing image is checked.

Are you a designer or a brand? Apply to sell in the Shop. Our team reviews every application.

• Choose the female or the male section first. In the female section you can change a dress, a top, a bottom, a hairstyle and footwear. A bottom is a skirt, trousers or shorts. The male section has a top, a bottom (trousers or shorts) and footwear. Hairstyles for men are coming soon.
• You can change several at once: a top with a bottom, and a hairstyle or footwear with anything. A dress replaces a top and a bottom.
• You choose one option in each section: pose, backdrop colour and picture quality, and for each garment its material, colour and length.
• The first option in each section keeps things as they are. A garment is put on exactly as its picture shows it unless you change it.
• Changes are limited to the clothing, the hairstyle and the backdrop. Objects in your photo, such as furniture, cannot be removed or changed.
• The app shows your whole look in plain words before you generate. Check it there.

Looks are made by AI and are an illustration, not a promise. The fit, colour, fabric and details of the real piece can differ from the picture.

• Every look is made by AI from your photo and a picture of the piece. It shows how the piece could look on you. It is not a photograph of you wearing it.
• The real piece can differ from the picture in fit, size, colour, fabric, drape, length, pattern and small details such as buttons, prints and logos.
• Use a look to judge style, not size. Before you buy, check the seller's own size guide and product details.
• AI makes mistakes. Hands, faces, hair, text and fine patterns can come out wrong, and the same choices can give a different picture each time.
• Modefai and the designers in the Shop do not promise that a real piece will look or fit as it does in a picture, and are not responsible for a purchase made because of one.

A picture you do not like is not refunded. See Credits and payment.

• You pay as you go with credits. There is no subscription.
• You need an account to make a picture. Setting up a look before signing in is free.
• A standard picture costs 1 credit. A high-detail picture costs 3 credits. Each Shop piece in the look adds its own price on top.
• The total is always shown next to the Generate button before you confirm.
• Credits are returned only when no picture could be made. A picture you do not like is not refunded, so check your photo and your choices first.

See credit packs

• Confirm your email address before you make pictures or buy credits. We send a link when you sign up, and you can ask for a new one at any time.
• An account that signs in with Google is confirmed already.
• You choose which notifications you receive, in the app and by email, in your settings. Emails about the account itself, such as a password reset, are always sent.

• Photos of someone else without their permission.
• Photos of anyone under 18.
• Nudity, or photos taken without the person knowing.
• Pictures you do not have the right to use.
• Pictures of lingerie, underwear (including thongs), swimwear or other very revealing outfits, worn or not.

Accounts that break these rules can be closed without a refund.

• The photos you upload (you and the clothing) are deleted 7 days after upload.
• Your finished looks are kept for 12 months after your most recent purchase.
• If your account has never made a purchase, each look is kept for 60 days.
• We remind you 30 days and 7 days before your looks are due to be deleted.
• You can keep your looks for another 12 months by buying any credit pack, or with the one-off "Keep my looks" payment of $2.00.
• Download any look you want to keep for good.

• We count visits to the app ourselves, without cookies. We do not store your internet address, and a visit on one day cannot be linked to a visit on another.
• Being signed in uses one cookie, which keeps you signed in. The app cannot work without it.
• With your permission we also use analytics cookies from an outside service to understand how the app is used. They are off until you allow them, and the app works the same without them.
• Your photos are used to make your looks and to check that they follow these rules. They are not sold or used for advertising.
